課程概述 |
This course will focus mainly on reading and reading strategies, accompanying with weekly listening tactics. Regarding to reading and reading strategies, the aim is to help students to approach written material with different objectives, to read for meaning, and to process information and ideas as students read. Students are also required to read a fiction book this semester in order to strengthen their reading habit. One writing exercise will be provided, to help students generate and develop ideas for writing well-organized paragraphs on topics related to class contents. For listening tactics, in order to give students experience with listening to a variety of text types, course material would be taken from online resources, TV, video clips, and all kinds of audio clips from various textbooks. |

課程要求 |
GROUP TERM PROJECT: The whole class will be divided into 6-7 teams. Every team member will be in charge of 1-2 pages (not including illustrations, tables, charts etc.) of a chosen topic.
REGULAR ASSIGNMENT: newspaper clips
SICKNESS AND ABSENCE POLICY: Students are required to submit a medical certificate or any official absence forms.
EVALUATION: Students' grades will be based on attendance records, assignments, in-class discussion, presentation, participation, quizzes, one midterm exam and one group term paper. |
